Spring is quickly approaching, and Spring brings the excitement of Student-Led Conferences at BCS! This year you will spend 40 minutes at your child’s conference, and we can assure you an experience that will leave you glowing with pride! Student-Led Conferences will be held on March 21st and 22nd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 5:00pm – 8:00pm (your child will have a half-day of school both days). They will take place in your child’s homeroom as well as his/her partner teacher’s classroom. On Monday, March 5th, your child’s homeroom teacher will post the sign- up sheets for conferences. Please plan on signing up by Monday, March 12th as this will help your child plan for his/her conference. We look forward to seeing you soon at the Student-Led Conferences!

Today we spent our entire class reviewing fractions and how to create common denominators. This is NOT an easy skill. Ask your child to show you the two pages we worked on together to accomplish this task. We will review this many more times! It was a great day in room 204! This morning we practiced writing the most descriptive sentences in writer’s workshop by showing the reader rather than telling. We worked with our writing buddy. Wow! What amazingly descriptive writers we have!

What a wonderful Wednesday in room 204! This morning we worked really hard learning about the dangers of our designated Michigan ecosystem. Next we will begin to write the draft for our PSA. In the afternoon, we learned more about food chains and webs. We also enjoyed Engineering Tech and PE today.

I am confident with practice, these facts will be easy to memorize!

We had a fantastic Friday in room 204. Can you believe Tuesday is Valentine’s Day? You are welcome to join us in the science lab for our class party. We will be celebrating with Mrs. Frishman’s class as well. This morning we worked hard and created a new TFK page on our wiki. In the afternoon we begain our new ecosystem project with Mrs. Truesdell. We also enjoyed learning current events from our TFK! Have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family.

This morning we took our spelling test. We will resume spelling when we return after the break. In the afternoon, we went to the science lab and observed the changes occurring in our eco-column. Happy February! Today was a fantastic day! This morning we wrote a small moment about our trip to the Nature Center. In the afternoon we created an aquarium web using Inspiration. We also wrote an observation for our Eco-column. Yesterday, a Valentine letter came home with a class list on the back.

***FYI: Tomorrow is a late-start day. We will begin at 9:50am. We also go to the Symphony tomorrow! Please have your child bring a bag lunch as we will not be lunching at BCS. Your child is free to bring a book, ipod touch, or DS for entertainment on the bus ride!

Please make sure your child has a good book with him/her each day! We usually have 15 minutes of silent reading time each day!

Please check your child's Blue Take Home Folder each day to check for mail, homework, and important information.

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY! PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave
the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any
time!
