We had a thrilling Tuesday in room 204! Get ready for a great Wednesday!

After break, beginning when we return in January, we will begin our THRILLING unit on Ecosystems. Kids will be getting their own terrarium and aquarium for their group, which will house real live plants and real live animals!!! For this exciting unit to work, I need two things from families: (1) please send me CLEAR 2 liter pop bottles with caps from now until after break (break homework will be to drink a 2L!!) (2) I am looking for one or two adult volunteers to take the bottles home and cut them so I can assemble the terrariums and aquariums for the kids. I have a great instruction sheet. It is not hard, it just takes time. We make 10 sets. Please email me if you would be willing to volunteer!

Tomorrow is a late start day. Students arrive at 9:50 tomorrow morning for school.
Friday is our Ford Rouge Factory Tour. Student s will need to bring a bag lunch, drink and snack for this trip. This morning we created a classroom map and including a map title, legend, scale, compass rose and labels. I am very impressed with such detailed classroom maps. Today when reading Sign of the Beaver we learned that wiithout the rifle, Matt has to procure food by fishing. Another complication arises one morning when he becomes careless and forgets to secure the cabin door. When he comes back from his fishing trip, he finds that a bear has invaded the cabin and raided his provisions. What will Matt have to do to make up for his mistakes?

Field Trip Friday: Chaperones will meet in the media center at 8:50 for an overview of the trip with Mrs. Reepmeyer. You will then meet us in the room, and we will load the bus for departure at 9:00am. Chaperons will ride the school bus with the class and bring a bag lunch for the day. We will return around 1:30. What a marvelous Monday. This morning we began our “Thanksgiving Guest Peer Writing” with our buddy. We brainstormed a famous person both partners would like to invite for dinner. Next partners talked about the dinner using their 'creative juices'. Students began drafting the paragraph on the wiki. In the afternoon, we continued drafting our peer writing. What a thrilling Thursday in room 204! This morning we learned about choosing a seed from the garden of ideas in our notebooks to develop a published piece of writing. We reread our writer’s workshop entries and used post-it notes to find seeds that we would like to “grow”. In the afternoon, we used our interactive maps to identify countries, states and communities on a map.
Our book orders will be submitted today by Ms. Deighan.

We are all set with field trip volunteers for the Rouge Plant Tour on Friday, December 9.. Chaperones will meet in the media center at 8:50 for an overview of the trip with Mrs. Reepmeyer. Chaperons will ride the school bus with the class and bring a bag lunch for the day. Our chaperone families for the day are:
